Shockwave Therapy: Myofascial Acoustic Compression Therapy (MyACT)

Shockwave Therapy

MyACT Non-invasive Pain Relief

Shockwave Therapy in Iselin, NJ:  MyACT utilizes focused soundwaves for the management of acute and chronic pain in muscles, tendons and joints.  The sound waves generated by the MyACT shockwave therapy instrument cannot be felt as they pass through the body. The soundwaves converge at a controlled point within the soft tissue to produce an intense, extremely short duration pressure pulse that delivers therapeutic massage in areas difficult to reach by other methods.

What to Expect During Shockwave Therapy

Before a patient begins shockwave therapy, Dr. Cawley will identify the treatment site or sites.  A thin coat of coupling gel is applied over the treatment areas which helps to translate the acoustic sound waves to the body. The treatment will begin at a very low out-put and will be slowly increased by Dr. Cawley until it reaches a level that is best suited to the patients individual condition.  The MyACT therapy source will be moved around the treatment area for a set period of time determined by the Dr. Cawley.  After completion of treatment the coupling gel will be removed and the patient can return to normal everyday activities immediately.
